Brain tumors… yeah they are scary. And honestly, most people don’t even know what to look for at first. Sometimes you just think headache is normal or feel dizzy and ignore it, but it could be something serious. I’m not saying every headache is tumor or anything but it’s good to know the signs.
Common Symptoms
Brain tumors can show up in different ways depending on where the tumor is, how big it is, or how fast it grows. Some common ones are:
1. Headaches
Most obvious symptom. But not all headaches are same. Tumor headaches are often worse in morning, or they get worse over time. Some people also feel nausea with headache. Sometimes I read that it can be different for everyone, so don’t ignore persistent headaches.
2. Nausea and Vomiting
I mean, sometimes nausea is normal, but sudden nausea with headache or dizziness could be warning sign. Some people feel it only in morning, some all day. It’s tricky because lots of things cause nausea so it’s not easy to know.
3. Seizures
Tumor can cause seizures. Even if never had before, sudden fits could be a sign. Small twitching in hand or big convulsions.
4. Vision or Hearing Changes
Blurred vision, double vision, partial loss of vision. Hearing problems also happen sometimes. Depends on where tumor is.
5. Cognitive Changes or Personality Changes
Confusion, forgetfulness, trouble concentrating. Mood changes like irritability or depression. Sometimes family notice before patient.
6. Weakness or Numbness
Feeling weak on one side of body. Numbness in arms, legs, face. Balance issues, clumsiness. Sometimes people trip a lot without reason.
7. Speech Problems
Difficulty speaking, forming words, slurred speech. Trouble understanding words too.
8. Fatigue
Tired even after sleep. Could be lots of reasons but with other symptoms, could be warning.
Other Possible Signs
-
Loss of smell or taste
-
Trouble swallowing
-
Hormonal changes if tumor affects pituitary gland
-
Mood swings, depression
